Sacred artefact, unique surviving example of its type, thought to have been used for the funeral of Psammetique the First, the pharaoh who drove Assourbanipal out of Egypt. The funeral god is probably Osiris in hitherto unknown form. Low-period work showing Assyrian influence.

XXVIe dynasty. About 630 B.C.
